Abstract

This paper addresses the territorial conflict over the island of Apipé in 1848 as a moment of tension in the geopolitical relations between Paraguay and Corrientes, while trying to frame them in the underlying disputes with the governor of Buenos Aires, Juan Manuel de Rosas. Through the development of this case, it is intented to acknowledge the problems surrounding the scope of the sovereignty of the political subjects involved.
