Reviving dialogue:
Fourth National Congress of Argentine Rock Art Archaeology, post-pandemic era
Keywords:
rock art, Archaeology, Argentina, Congress, archaeometry, new recordsAbstract
The Fourth National Congress of Argentine Rock Art Archaeology, held in the city of Salta, marked a milestone in the continuity of these scientific meetings, especially after the interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The papers presented in this volume reflect the most recent advances in the field, highlighting the incorporation of new techniques and methodologies. The application of geographic information systems (GIS), Raman microscopy, and other analytical tools has enabled a deeper analysis of archaeological sites with rock art. Furthermore, there is a growing interest in the study of materials associated with the rock art record, thus broadening the scope of research. Despite the diversity of approaches, all the papers maintain an elevated level of methodological rigor and a solid theoretical framework. The scientific dialogue, so longed for during the period of isolation, was revitalized in this congress, creating a space for exchange and collaboration among researchers.
