The general aim of this article is to present a few research problems related to the economic history of the province of Salta during the period of the last military dictatorship. It offers preliminary findings from an ongoing research project that specifically seeks to analyse broad issues such as the role of the state in the economy and to identify sectors of the bourgeoisie that may have benefited from particular policies. To this end, the article examines two interrelated cases: a private company composed of cattle producers from Salta—which was nationalized and subsequently reprivatized—and the Bank of the Province of Salta.
